Chilliwack, BC—The Coastal Tsunami (7-8-1-1) will finish the month of October with a loss. The club lost an early game against the Chilliwack Jets (17-1) 5-3.
Coastal gave the best team in the PJHL a run for their money but ultimately failed to prevail.
The Coastal Tsunami recorded the game’s first goal, with Jayden Attwood registering his first PJHL marker. Brody Quiring (7) had the answer for the Chilliwack Jets at the 13:55 mark to tie the game at one heading into the intermission.
The second period was much like the first in that a goal from one team was followed up by a goal from the other to keep the score tied. Ethan Smid (7) took advantage of a power play opportunity before Lachlan Staniforth (2) scored a goal on the man advantage for the Jets to even things up.
Chilliwack took advantage of the Tsunami in the third period, scoring three unanswered goals to go up 5-2. Brideau (12), Rommel (11), and Pretty (5) each had a marker. Chilliwack’s fifth goal came courtesy of the man advantage.
Eric Stinson (2) scored the game’s final goal on a power play at 12:17.
The Tsunami were three for five on the power play, while the Jets were two for six. Chilliwack out-shot Coastal 41-16.
The club is back in action on Saturday to host the Abbotsford Pilots and celebrate 50 years of hockey on the Sunshine Coast.
